Jamboree Band
Applicants must be able to play a wind or percussion instrument normally associated with a school or college marching band.
Applicants must bring a plastic flip folder and a portable music stand. The Jamboree Band will furnish music, mellophones, marching baritones, sousaphones, and marching percussion instruments.
NOTE: Players who can also double on jazz band instruments (piano, electric bass, guitar, or drums set) may get an opportunity to perform in an adjunct ensemble, but must first be a member of the Jamboree Band. Saxophonists and percussion are usually plentiful and must be limited in numbers, so it is advised that they apply early and have their recommendations and deposit sent ASAP.
This sounds like fun. How do I apply?
Application Process
Apply for a Youth Staff (age 16-25 in 2010) for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. Start by clicking on Staff on the left side of this page. Click here for registration instructions. During the application process, staff will be required to pay a $100 deposit.
After submitting your application, send an e-mail to 2010jamboband@att.net and list your instrument, i.e., flute, B-flat clarinet, E-flat alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, B-flat cornet or trumpet, horn (mellophone), trombone, baritone, tuba/sousaphone, marching snare, tenors (quads or quints), tonal bass drums.
Applicants must have a letter of recommendation sent directly to the Jamboree Band director, Bill Nelson, at 2010jamboband@att.net by their current or former band director. The letter must state the applicant’s qualifications as a musician and as a band member.
Recommendations will be considered along with instrumentation issues when the band director determines whether to approve membership.
Once selected as a staff member, you will receive a Letter of Appointment. Sometime after that you will be sent an assignment of instrument section.
